Atari 2600 vs ColecoVision vs Intellivision....
For those of us old enough to remember these gaming systems which one did you own? And which one did you like the best?I owned a Atari 2600, we had to Pre-Order Pacman for it through Sears where we purchased the 2600.I owned a ColecoVision, better sound and graphics and the optional Atari 2600 game adapter was a plus! I just wish it had the support that the 2600 had.I never owned a Intellivision but I had a friend who did. The controllers were terrible, and the games were ok. I liked a few of them, but the graphics were downright terrible.
What do you think are some of the best games on the Atari 2600?
I don't have a favorite, but I remember Pitfall, Berzerker, Ms. Pac-Man, Missile Command, Video Pinball, Space Invaders and Centipede being pretty good. What about you?
I won an Atari 2600 with an original pacman game!
I can't wait until I get this - was bidding on ebay and won an Atari 2600 with 10 games, one of which is pacman - Love it!!I also won an old table top version - I use to play these when I was in my teens! It's a hoot, being able to play something from that long ago!I also have newever versions for my gamecube and ds, but it's not quite the same thing, now is it?What do you think is better? The old original version, or the updated versions?Lexa
Has the PS2 become like the Atari 2600 of this generation?
Since the PlayStation 3 has come out, you would think that Sony wouldn't be making anymore PS2 games. I believe both Nintendo and Microsoft have stopped making games for the previous consoles being the Gamecube and Xbox. This one is an interesting case. They are still making them I guess because of the PS3 not really working out as Sony had anticipated. Is anybody else surprised by this? I think for some reason that could draw comparasions on how back in the past the Atari 5200 was rejected even though it was superior to the Atari 2600 but people wanted the 2600 more than the 5200. I don't know if anyone has ever thought of that.It can be said that so far that there are games for it that are also on the PS3. I find it very ironic and interesting to say the least. I know there are more people that love the PS2 and consider it one of the best systems out there in the market but it comes down to what you really enjoy.I'm not sure how many have heard of it but there could be some comparasions in that respect. Only reason being it has to do with the acceptance/rejection rate of the next gen console. It could have happened with both the 360 and the Wii but it didn't. This...
Do you remember ATARI 2600,,???
Ohhh the maddness,,it was all about sticks and squares,,hahahahaha!!! what was your favorite ATARI game???? mine was "combat"!!!!
Remember Atari 2600?
How many of you have actually owned an Atari 2600? I have when I was a younger kid and I've played many games on it like Asteroids, Megamania, Space Invaders, Fast Food, Berserk, and many other games. I got mine through I think my grandparents maybe a year or 2 before I ended up getting the NES.I also ended with some games that might have been considered the worst games for the time like E.T. or Pacman but it wasn't the worst games of all time in my opinion. I've played them and E.T. while it isn't a great game by any means, isn't the worse. The worse one I've ever played or tried would be the NES's Dr. Jekyll & Mr. Hyde. It fustrated me to no end.Back to the Atari 2600, what games were you good at exactly and did you have any favorites?
What was your favourite Atari 2600 game?
I know you have one, you child of the seventies (or eighties), you! I had over 300 Atari cartridiges, if you can believe that. I used to buy them for $0.99 from KayBee when they went on clearance. I simply adored the original Pac-Man, horrible graphics and all.Do you remember Atari? If so, which was your favourite game?
Found an Atari 2600
But I can't find the power adapter:(Does anyone know what voltage and amperage the atari takes? I'm googling as we speak, so if I find out I'll edit.
What videoconsoles do you have?
I have Nintendo Wii only now, What videoconsoles do you have?Have a nice day!
Your favourite First generation game?
So one of my university assignments (History of Interactive Entertainment) has me looking at the first three generation of console/computer games. The course overall has made me quite curious into other people's playing habits and why people play, what makes them choose one game over another that is similar or why a person choices one console over another.Anyway, said assignment has me playing a first generation game and writing about it - my experience etc. So my question to you is what is your favourite first generation game? I'd be quite interested in hearing of any particular game that you remember playing that isn't mentioned on wikipedia, as I'd love to do something in the assignment that I haven't played before for a greater experience and to not be biased with any old memories. If you are curious on the different generations of gaming there is quite a bit of info on wiki detailing the history of all seven generation - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/History_of_video_game_consoles
